Downtown Anchorage is host to many eclectic stores and businesses that thrive in the district due to its high volume of shoppers, tourists, and nightlife. Walking down 4th Avenue on a Sunday morning, one might hear the draw of loud music coming from the downstairs level of the Sunshine Plaza between C and E street. 

 

Many are surprised to find a small but enthused congregation of churchgoers on the bottom level facing 3rd Avenue.

 

Inside, you will notice the "typical" family--husband and wife who attend Sunday services with their children and parents. You will also encounter a few homeless people quietly sipping coffee, listening to the worship or sermon. You'll see tattooed teardrops or neck ink on one or two security guards as they welcome you inside. You may wonder how a group of people like this might worship the same God under one roof harmoniously.
